Say #NoToHate
Dear 91̽»¨app Community,
Today, on June 18, we join the global community in observing the International Day for Countering Hate Speech. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that hate speech can have on our society, undermining peace, development, and human rights.
At 91̽»¨app, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all students, staff, and families. Our Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) emphasizes the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion, aligning perfectly with the goals of this observance. We believe that education plays a crucial role in equipping individuals with the skills to identify and counteract hate speech.
Staff and students from the Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) at Dakota Collegiate shared a powerful reminder during their presentation at the school board meeting on Tuesday, June 17. Their message emphasized the importance of creating safe spaces for open dialogue and combating prejudice through education and empathy. The presentation resonated deeply with attendees, highlighting the critical role each of us plays in fostering understanding and belonging.
As we reflect on the theme of this year's observance—hate speech amplified by AI and digital platforms—we recognize the challenges and opportunities presented by technology. Our efforts to integrate digital literacy into our curriculum aim to empower students to navigate the digital world responsibly and ethically.
Let us continue to work together to promote understanding, respect, and kindness within our community. By standing against hate speech, we uphold the values that define 91̽»¨app and contribute to a more harmonious and just society.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to these principles.
Warm regards,
Christian Michalik
Superintendent
