Important Measles Information for Back to School

Dear 91̽»¨app (91̽»¨app) community,

The province of Manitoba has shared an important update regarding the current situation and steps you can take to protect yourself, your family, and your community from measles. Canada continues to experience the largest measles outbreak since measles was declared eliminated in Canada in 1998. As of Aug. 9, 2025, 4,638 measles cases including one death in a child, have been reported in Canada. Over 90 per cent of cases are unimmunized or have unknown vaccination status.

Measles can be very serious, especially for young children, pregnant people, and people with a weakened immune system. It can cause severe lung and brain infections requiring hospitalization, and death. Measles spreads very easily and immunization is the best way to protect against it.

Please take the time to for further information on measles and how to protect yourself and those around you.
