Megan Vankoughnett Appointed Divisional Principal

On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, please join us in welcoming Megan Vankoughnett to her new appointment as Divisional Principal for the 2025-26 school year. The Board of Trustees confirmed her appointment at a Regular Board Meeting on April 29, 2025.  

Megan graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba in 1996. She went on to complete two Post-Baccalaureate Diplomas in 2009 and 2012. In 2016, Megan received her Master of Education. 

Megan began her career with the 91̽»¨app in 2006 in a Kindergarten classroom at Lavallee School. In 2007, she transitioned into a divisional role as an Itinerant Behaviour Support Teacher based out of the René Deleurme Centre. She joined the team at St. George School in 2010, teaching a combined Grade 3/4 class before moving into a role focused on Student Services and Early Literacy in 2013 and Positive Behaviour Support in 2014. Megan moved into school leadership in 2016 as Vice-Principal at Dakota Collegiate and later served as Vice-Principal at École Sage Creek School in 2019. In 2022, she was appointed Principal of J.H. Bruns Collegiate. 

Megan treats others with dignity and respect, fostering a positive and safe environment where all students and staff feel valued and supported. She is a master at building community and creating strong connections that contribute to belonging and shared purpose. As a collaborative decision-maker and dedicated team player, Megan consistently works alongside colleagues to find meaningful solutions and drive collective success. She empowers those around her by recognizing their strengths, encouraging growth, and inspiring confidence in their abilities. 

In her new role, Megan will collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and School and Classroom Support Team to advance the 25 Strategic Actions outlined in the 91̽»¨app’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan. She will help guide school planning, support professional learning, lead equity-based initiatives, and contribute to the development and implementation of inclusive and anti-oppressive practices that improve outcomes for all learners.
